Can I Be Tested at In and Out for COVID-19?

COVID-19 lab testing is being offered at all centers, as supplies are available, to those who meet the CDC-based screening criteria. Please see our COVID Testing Criteria for more details. As our daily guidance from local and national authorities evolve day-by-day, please re-visit this website frequently for any updates. Each location will determine how your personal testing will be done which may be curbside or a back entrance isolation room.

How Long Will It Take to Get Results from My COVID-19 Test?

Our Rapid Antigen Test take about 20 minutes from collection to get a result. The PCR molecular test is sent to an outside lab. Timing may vary depending on the volume of tests being performed by our commercial lab partners, but it typically takes around two to four days for patients to get results. A member of our team will call you once we receive the results.

Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral to Be Tested for COVID-19 at a In and Out Urgent Care Center?

COVID-19 testing is only available at In and Our Urgent Care Locations for patients who are seen and evaluated at our centers. Testing is only offered as testing supplies remain available to us and only to those who meet CDC Screening Criteria. We do not currently accept referrals or prescriptions for testing from outside health care providers. If you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, please schedule a Virtual Visit to be seen by a provider or call your nearest In and Out Urgent Care center for additional information.

Why Can’t In and Out Tell Me the Total Cost of a COVID-19 Test?

In and Out Urgent Care only bills patients for the evaluation and treatment they receive from our medical providers during their visit. Our Cash Fee for this service is required to be posted and is $175 for the Virtual Visit and Rapid Antigen Test.  Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any information about how our commercial lab partners, Quest, LabCorp or CliniCore, will bill patients for COVID-19 testing, nor are we able to provide information about how specific insurance carriers will process claims related to COVID-19 testing and treatment. Many health insurance companies across the country have stated that they will cover the full cost of any testing for COVID-19. However, if you have questions or concerns about your specific insurance plan, it is a good idea to check with your insurance company to learn if it covers the test.
In and Out accepts most major insurance plans. If you don’t have insurance or have an insurance that is out of network we will explain to you the most current information we have about COVID testing and how it may apply to In and Out Urgent Care centers.

What Is In and Out’s Protocol If a Patient Meets the CDC-Based Screening Criteria or Appears to Show Symptoms of COVID-19?

If you meet this criteria, please schedule a Virtual Visit and a provider will evaluated you send you to you nearest In and Out center where you will be tested for COVID-19. See below for current CDC based testing criteria.

How is In and Out Adapting In-Center Practices and Protecting Its Employees in Response to COVID-19?

The health and safety of both our patients and our employees is, and always will be, our top priority. We’ve also enhanced our cleaning and disinfecting practices to further minimize exposure. We have a NO VISTOR policy and screen all patients prior to entry. You will be required to wear a provided surgical mask at all times when in our facilities. We’re also carefully monitoring our inventory and supplies to ensure our teams have what they need to provide care safely, and we’re assessing each and every team member at the beginning of every shift. We have provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our staff, as well as education and training on proper PPE use.

Everyday Preventative Actions are More Important Than Ever to Help Prevent the Spread of Respiratory Diseases. Please Continue to Engage in the Following Best Practices:

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Staying at home when you are sick
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash or coughing/sneezing into your inner arm if a tissue is not available
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol

To ensure you have the latest information and guidance on COVID-19, we recommend visiting the CDC’s coronavirus homepage and the World Health Organization website.

Should I Still Visit In and Out for Cold or Flu Treatment?

Symptoms like cough and fever are common this time of year and are most often a result of a cold or the flu. While symptoms of the common cold typically start slowly and increase in severity over a period of days, flu like symptoms tend to come on quickly. If you do start to experience cold or flu symptoms, it’s important to visit a health care professional as soon as possible to reduce risk of complications, like pneumonia, bronchitis, or sinus or ear infections. If you are exhibiting a cough or fever, please call your local In and Out Urgent Care center and our team members will advise on next steps.

Information, recommendations, and guidance contained herein is fluid and is subject to change as new information, recommendations, and guidance is issued by the CDC and state and local health authorities.
